Salvation Army Thrift

salvationarmyusa.org

The Salvation Army has run thrift operations in the US since the 1890s, when its founders started collecting discards to fund social work among the poor. Its Family Thrift Stores resell donated clothing and household goods, with proceeds funding Adult Rehabilitation Centers that provide residential recovery programs at no cost to participants. The stores divert enormous volumes of textiles and furniture from landfill while funding the safety net. It joins Goodwill as the charity-thrift backbone of our secondhand ecosystem.
