350.org
350.org was founded in 2008 by author Bill McKibben and a group of Middlebury College students, named for 350 parts per million, the safe upper bound for atmospheric carbon dioxide. It pioneered the global climate day of action and drove the fossil fuel divestment movement, which has moved tens of trillions of dollars in commitments. Today it organizes campaigns in nearly every country, from pipeline fights to finance pressure. It is the grassroots-movement anchor of our non-profits collection.
