Rainforest Trust was founded in 1988 on an unfashionable idea: the fastest way to save a rainforest is to help local partners buy and protect it before the chainsaws arrive. It has since safeguarded tens of millions of acres across the tropics, always through local organizations and always targeting the most threatened habitats first.
