Center for Environmental Health
ceh.org
The Center for Environmental Health was founded in Oakland in 1996 to get toxic chemicals out of everyday products, and it fights with an unusual weapon: California's Proposition 65. CEH independently tests products, then uses legal action to force manufacturers into binding agreements to reformulate, winning lead out of toys, jewelry, and baby products among hundreds of victories. Its settlements change what is on shelves nationwide, not just in California. It is the toxics watchdog of our non-profits collection, working the same product-safety territory as our Section H criteria.
