Nike

About Nike

Nike traces its roots to 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports, founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight in Oregon, and was renamed Nike in 1971.

Nike's stated mission is to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world, paired with the Move to Zero program aimed at reducing carbon and waste.

It designs, markets, and sells athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories across performance and lifestyle lines, including the Air Jordan brand.

Nike runs the Nike Grind program, which recycles manufacturing scrap and old shoes into new materials, and holds a third Fair Labor Association reaccreditation for factory labor compliance. It has exceeded its Scope 1 and 2 emissions cut target but is behind pace on Scope 3, has not published clear post-2025 climate milestones, and is not a certified B Corp.
