Lauren Singer studied environmental science at NYU, got called out by her own habits, and in 2012 started fitting years of her trash into a single mason jar, documenting it on her blog Trash is for Tossers. The blog made her the most recognizable face of the zero-waste movement and led her to found Package Free Shop in Brooklyn in 2017, turning low-waste living into a storefront. Her content is unpreachy and practical: swaps, systems, and honest accounting of what worked and what did not.
