Kathryn Kellogg started Going Zero Waste in 2015 after a health scare in college pushed her to cut endocrine-disrupting products and single-use plastic from her life, and she noticed she was healthier, happier, and spending less. The blog grew into one of the most-read zero-waste resources in the world, reaching millions of readers a year, and made her a National Geographic spokesperson with coverage everywhere from NBC to The Guardian.

Her approach is the opposite of purity culture: small, practical, budget-friendly swaps anyone can make, backed by the reminder that we don't need a handful of perfect zero-wasters. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly. Her 2019 book 101 Ways to Go Zero Waste distills the method into bite-size steps for home, beauty, fashion, and travel.
