Earth Brands began in 2021 as a dorm-room startup by founders including Misha Vitels, aiming at the red party cup as a symbol of casual disposability.

The company says it wants to make single-use moments dramatically less wasteful while giving a slice of sales to ocean and planet causes.

It sells compostable plant-based party cups made from corn-derived PLA, plus a growing line of tableware.

Replacing petroleum plastic with plant-based material and a giving model is the strength; the honest caveat is that PLA cups only break down in industrial composting, which most users do not have access to.
