Christy Dawn
About Christy Dawn
Christy Dawn was founded in Los Angeles in 2014 by Christy Dawn Baskauskas, a former model and the brand's namesake, and her husband Aras Baskauskas, who is CEO. They launched with five dress styles cut from deadstock fabric bought with their own savings, and took a growth investment from KarpReilly in 2018.
The brand describes its work as honoring Mother Earth through clothing that regenerates rather than depletes. It commits to reciprocal relationships with the farmers and sewers behind each garment, including living wages and long-term partnerships.
It sells vintage-inspired dresses along with knitwear, tops, bottoms, intimates, footwear, and accessories, made in small batches at its downtown Los Angeles factory and through its Farm-to-Closet supply chain in India, with knitwear from Peru and shoes from Guatemala.
Its strengths are deadstock fabric sourcing, a regenerative cotton supply chain run with the Oshadi Collective on 219 acres in southern India, living wage claims tied to named benchmarks, and a pre-loved resale program. The gap is verification: the carbon and acreage claims cite no third-party methodology and the brand holds no certifications of its own.
