Depop was founded in 2011 inside an Italian startup incubator by Simon Beckerman, moved to London, and became the resale app that dressed Gen Z: a feed that scrolls like Instagram but sells like eBay. Millions of sellers, most under 34, keep trend pieces cycling between closets instead of into bins, and the company has been certified climate neutral since 2021. After a stint under Etsy it now runs as a separate business inside eBay. It is the youth-culture engine of our secondhand-fashion group.
